​​​​​​​​​​​​​I made this pastel drawing out in the Rutland countryside early last year. It captures the moment when seemingly dead branches erupt into life and the dull soft colours of winter become flushed with lime and yellow; the tangled forms of hedges pop with tiny green buds. It It was cold and sometimes raining while I was working outside but I love the winter landscape and the weather just adds to the experience and sharpens the drawing! ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
